Ford C-MAX (2010 - 2019)
1.6 Tdci 5dr Zetec
Excellen ride, easy entry/exit for older people.
Comfortable, economic but a pain in certain respects! The bane of our car has been the Bosch fuerl injectors. We have only covered a little over 40,000 miles but had 4 injector failures in this time, on each occasion the car has simultaneously emitted a warning and slowed down wherever we were and whatever its position on the road be it puling out to join traffic or in the fast lane of a motorway.
As a mechanical engineer with over 60 years work experience and driving even longer I consider this highly dangerous to the occupants and to following drivers, motorway speeds are high and multiple pile-ups easily initiated. I firmly believe that the instant start of limp-home mode should be warned in advance to give drivers time to move to a safer position on the rads without becoming the target for rear-ending.
Of course, given my background, I blame it all on sense having given way to the fads of computer management.
Without this problem and certain (to me) oversensitive steering and braking this car would be near perfect.
