Ford C-MAX (2010 - 2019)
1.0T 125ps Titanium EcoBoost Start+Stop 5dr Medium MPV
great car, but recent engine trouble
Prior to the beginning of this week my review would have been extremely positive overall.
The cmax is a perfect practical family car.
Pros
Spacious, comfortable and practical
Nice to drive, surprisingly speedy
Good for carrying people (duh) and kids/bikes/dog/stuff
Interior space Vs exterior size is way better than an SUV or estate
Easy to park
Titanium extras well worth having
Cons
MPG nowhere near stated especially around town. Typically get 35mpg in town and 50mpg max on the motorway if I stay under 70.
Engine is nippy but I find quite 'twitchy' on the clutch when pulling away, easy to stall or pull away too fast.
Only reliability issue up to now was a drive shaft seal repaired under warranty.
Mixed customer service experiences at the dealership.
This week it's had a service with Ford and there is an internal coolant leak in the engine. Apparently a known fault and the most likely outcome is a replacement engine. It'll be repaired under warranty again but I wonder how this will affect the future resale value of cars with this engine.
