Ford C-MAX (2010 - 2019)
Titanium 2.0 TDCI 163 Powershift
Great family transport, quick agile and fugal
I chose the 5 seaterr C Max because it looks much better than its larger sister. I could only get the 163 bhp diesel in Titanium and added the full leather interior and auto park. The more powerful engine is quick off the mark and is swift enough for motorway entries and overtaking. The powershift works well and there is never any need to use kick down, just a gentle squeeze of the accelerator and the C Max is up to speed. The electric power steering is a delight around town and makes parking a doddle yet feels secure at motorway speeds. On a holiday run the C Max would nudge 50 mpg but could drop to 40mpg on stop start runs so 18 months ago I decided to not reset the the trip computer and 15000 miles later the odmeter shows that I have managed 43.9 mpg which given my diet of mixed runs seems pretty good. The only enforced stop at the main dealers was just after the first service when the engine started to run uneven and the engine warning light came on. Ford diagnosed that the turbo inlet manifold had cracked, but given this happened straight after the service I cant help but wonder whether the damage had been caused during the actual service. With the mileometer approaching 30K and three years old next month it is now time to replace, and whilst the Ford is hard to fault it's not the car you look out onto the drive and long to take for a spin but as family transport it does a great job.
