Fantastic Value for Money

We purchased the Dacia Logan 1.2 Access - the very basic model for just £6995 from Hartwells in Oxford.

Granted it came with no radio, central locking or electric windows.

We had a nice JVC KW- R400 Double Din radio system professionally installed plus a Witter towbar & reversing sensors.

Our main requirement was space & the Logan is just fantastic. Yesterday we did a catering function & carried:

One m******, 2 full sized generators, one 19kg bottle of Calor Gas, 3 large electric hot plates, 3 fold up 6ft banquetting tables, 25 litres barrel of water, one tripod lighting column, plus various generator extension leads & sockets.

We had the car converted to LPG at 4,000 miles & it now runs even smoother/quieter on LPG than petrol.

The MPG figures on petrol were 49mpg or 12.5p per mile. On LPG, the cost per mile has fallen to just 7.8p per mile which equates to 75mpg on prevailing petrol prices.

We have a mixed fleet of 16 vehicles mainly running on LPG & the operating costs of the Logan are by far the lowest.

The car has now completed 105,000 over the last 4 years.

At 65,000 we replaced the engine with a low mileage 2nd hand unit at a cost of just £290. We also replaced the LPG conversion.

At 100,000 the gearbox selector failed so we replaced this and the complete clutch assembly at a cost of £265.

The car has been very reliable & the only downside has been finding 2nd hand parts given the high cost of new dealer parts.

A new dealer supplied exhaust is £1,000 whilst I purchased one complete from a low mileage car for £100.

The main feature of this car is that it a fantastic load lugger, but the downside of this is that we had to replace the suspension on all 4 corners at 3 years old at a cost of £150.

Even after 105,000 miles the bodywork on the car is still very good, except for a few slight car park dinks & a few stone chips.

The cost of this entry car has risen by £1500 over the last 4 years, which is a lot.
