BMW 5 Series Touring (2010 - 2017)
525d M Sport 218 Auto 5dr Estate
Unreliable car and terrible customer service
I've had the car 10 months, and it's been in the garage 10 times with faults. Initially no a/c, but took four garage trips and three months to repair, leading to very uncomfortable driving over the summer months. Then the drivetrain started failing... drivetrain warning lights and impaired performance ('drive-home mode'), getting progressively worse to total engine failure. It's been in the BMW garage six times with the same fault symptoms, who have identified outdated/faulty computer system, faulty sensors, faulty EFG valve, two blown turbos, leaking exhaust lines and most recently bent turbo vacuum pump actuator arm. The last three BMW mechanics that have looked at it have said it sounds like a 'Friday afternoon car,' however the Spire dealership and BMW central said that this level of reliability would be considered 'normal'... Terrible customer service and lack of ownership/action from both the dealership and BMW central. I'm looking to get rid of the car as soon as possible and, despite being happy with my previous BMW, would never go back to BMW again.
