Nice car ruined by runflat tyres and lousy suspension
If I lived in a country that maintained its roads I would have found little to criticise but having owned it almost from new in the UK it has a glaring fault which all comes down to the suspension and tyres. It maybe due to the XDrive changes but the front suspension travel seems very limited and it bottoms out on all but the smallest potholes/ sunken drain covers. The runflat tyres cannot take this and either the sidewall fails or the wheel cracks, on one occasion both. I suffered 5 runflat tyre failures before I changed to conventional tyres. The suspension still occasionally bottoms out but I have only suffered one tyre failure as a result since dumping runflats. I looked into changing to smaller diameter wheels to try and increase sidewall depth but the front brakes are too big to accept smaller wheels. Much nicer to drive than my previous A6 Quattro but one drives concentrating 100% on the road surface ahead looking for things you have to miss not to be stranded.
