BMW 3 Series Touring (2012 - 2019)
330d Luxury 258 Auto 5dr Estate
Not quite flawless, but nearly....
Bought this new about 10k miles ago for long distance touring. Paid extra for the sports seats, but retained the standard 17in wheels, which was a good choice, as I can sit comfortably all day (with short breaks)and don't end up stiff at the end. The 3 litre engine is a cracker - very smooth until you cane it, when it develops a hard edge and takes off for the horizon. Addictive, but needs to be watched carefully for fear of attracting the attention of the speed cameras! Layout and ergonomics generally excellent, except for the i****ically complicated way you need to check the oil level (engine warm & running, car static & level for about 4 mins) and the tyre pressures (10 mins steady driving, then the figures it measures don't match my carefully calibrated pressure gauge) Both unnecessary complications for the sake of it, as is the keyless start. (Where do you put the keys? Too easy for the one not driving to get out & go off with the keys - and that's the voice of experience! ) Runflat tyres (on 17in wheels) aren't as harsh as I'd feared, but I really HATE not having any kind of spare wheel, or anywhere to put one. Should at least be an option, as it makes me feel very vulnerable in the darkest South of France or somewhere on a Sunday afternoon.
