Audi A6 1.9 tdi 2001 - Juddering when accelerating from low gears - bazbeata

Hi - for a while now we have had an intermittent 'judder' when accelerating. Normally we would stop the car, turn off engine wait 5-10 seconds and re-start and the judder would stop. I was told it could be that the car hadn't been serviced for a while and that an oil filter change may resolve it. I took it for a service and was advised that there was a misfire and to get it to Audo for a diagnostic - he believed it could be an injector fault. However, since the service the problem has got much worse, in that every journey is now juddering. Even after turning engine off, more often than not the judder re-occurs. I have noticed that less aggressive acceleration keeps the judder at bay.

Any thoughts before I pay Audi stupid money for a diagnostic? Oh, also when I stop the car when it's juddering and let it idle for a while, if I press accelerator black smoke comes fromt he exhaust.

Sounds like some sort of injection problem, but could be anything.

I wouldn't take it anywhere near the Audi dealer, i'd find by recommendation a competent Diesel specialist workshop, you'll get it diagnosed and repaired properly without bending over.
