Oh the good old days. WOW you have got a 1600E.

Must come round and steal those Rostyle wheels or collect the spare wheel from 4 parked 1600Es. That way the owners usually have not a clue when the theft took place.

I loved the car and Wow did it perform well!!

I have just been looking up the road tests on the 1600E.

With 88 BHP variously 11.8, 11.7, 12.4 0-60 mph time
Max speed 95, 96.3, 97 MPH

The spec said 13.1 and 98MPH and 25.1 MPG

Motor said ...only a moderate thirst for petrol. Our overall MPG 23.1 being pretty fair.

The car came with an optional servo and optional seat belts

Basic cost £799 which became £1020 19s 11d .
This included purchase tax and delivery but not Safety Belts

How things all round have improved and advanced in 35 years (except for complexity.)

Our family had a Morris Minor 1000 Traveller. I learned to drive in it. We were fond of it, but in all honesty I'd say it was unreliable, not especially well-made and you had wood-rot to contend with as well as rust! It was scrapped when it was 11 years old because it was falling apart through rust, despite having been patched up deveral times.

Lots of Morris Minors have survived, so ours may not have been representative.

Cheers, SS

My P6 has Kangol seatbelts.

Now Kangol is a 'designer' brand of clothing.

In 35 years somethings haven't changed for the better.
