How far can I travel on a spacesaver wheel?
Never having had to use space saver spare wheel before I am concerned that there seems to be a "rule" not to travel with it fitted for more than 50 miles. How rigid is this rule? Also once it has been used can it be used again or do I have to purchase another one?

Some manufacturers recommend that you do not drive more than 50 miles on a space saver spare because the amount of tread is less than on a conventional tyre, but you should refer to the owner's manual for specific instructions that apply to your vehicle. Space savers are designed as a temporary spare, the idea being that you fit it if required and drive to the nearest tyre fitter to have your original replaced. Driving further than 50 miles may increase the risk of another puncture or even a blowout, which could result in an accident and would leave you stranded. Changing the space saver for a new tyre on your original wheel will reduce wear on the spare so it can be used again.
