Interesting interpetation of the CRA.

Apparently within the 30 day absolute right to reject period you have to give the dealer ine shot at repairing the defect.

It's a bit odd with a brand new car because, on one hand, they can't possibly deny it's a pre-existing fault. On the other hand, though, it's not that unusual for something brand new to have an issue that is easily resolved with no further problems.

This car is a PHEV, so it must have a relatively complex auto gearbox. If there is a problem, it might be as simple as a software error. Equally, it is possible that the purchaser isn't getting along with it and thinks there's something wrong.

I suppose the advice given is that ultimately you could end up in court and you still have to be reasonable. Instantly rejecting a new car without allowing someone to fix the problem isn't very reasonable.

What nonsense. Under the CRA 2015 during the first 30 days you do not have to give one opportunity, that is between 30 days and 6 months.

Can we please be a bit more diplomatic towards the Editors who are ultimately allowing us to use their forum for nothing.

If an article contains errors then nothing to stop you emailing the Senior Editor who answered this one: david.ross@heycar.co.uk

Why don't you tell him. And seniority does not equate to knowledge (this case makes that clear).

Maybe he does know but made a mistake? You could drop him an email so he knows, then he can update the website.
