Hi does anyone know when you put a private plate on a car does the tax automatically continue? Do the DVLA swap it over automatically ? I currently pay by DD monthly

I'd say inference is that if car is taxed then tax continues. Perhaps best to ring DVLA and get answer from the horse's mouth?

The VED changes automatically - in the olden days you handed in the old windscreen disk and were issued a new one.
