Any - gear linkage - scot22

A friend took his car to a national garage chain to have a new clutch fitted. A week later he was unable to get the car to engage in gear.

He got it back to them and was told the gear linkage was loose and these things happen. I am suspicious of the standard of fitting the exhaust. Am I right to be ? or could there be another reason ?

So what did he have replaced? Was it the clutch or was it he exhaust.

OOOps - very red face. Apologies. It was the clutch. I am not mechanical but it seems to me when the clutch was fitted it was not reconnected carefully enough. However, don't want to be critical if it could be another plausible cause.
