Car with no luck - cocorico

I am not a superstitious person but…Is there such thing as lucky or unlucky car ?

I am “lucky” to have owned 5 different cars in my life so far:-

1st car was Renault Clio (R Reg), and I had a problem free motoring during 5 years of ownership. (Lucky ?)

2nd car was Renault Megane Estate (04 Reg), and it was poorly built Renault c**p. (Unlucky) Sold after 2 years

Injector fault, Rear suspension geometry issues, electrical problems etc.

3rd car was Ford Fiesta (56 Reg), trouble free and I am still owning it, driven by my other half. (Lucky)

4th car was VW Touran (57 Reg), mechanically trouble free ownership except I had had Windscreen Replaced x 1, Car Park Incident (This one was funny, I was hit by another car whilst waiting in the queue. The event took place in the local Tesco Car Park and it was snowy day. I was in my 3 month old Touran waiting in the traffic when suddenly a car on my left started to reverse. The rear window of this car was covered in snow. She hit me once, she moved forward and then reversed into me again this time bit faster. She repeated this for 2-3 more times and each time it got faster. By this time I was outside of my car and watching her destructive behaviour powerlessly. She finally came out of her car and said “did I hit you ?” ) Sold after 5 years and still wishing if I hadn’t.

5th car, my latest ownership is Skoda Octavia Estate (61 Reg), now this car is so far the unluckiest car I have owned.

In the last 2 years, I have had Windscreen Replaced x1, A/C Compressor Replaced x1, Hand brake issue x1, Car Park Incident x3(All hit and run victim)

I don’t think this would have managed to smash a bottle of champagne when it left the factory….

I started to think about replacing this car before another incident happens…..

So my question is, do you own lucky/unlucky car ?

Car with no luck - Avant

There's a difference between mechanical failures and accidents that casue body damage, and not a lot of point on bracketing them together.

Personally I'm not superstitious. Two people are walking together along a pavement. One walks under a ladder, unscathed. The other - superstitious by nature - walks round it and trips in the gutter, falls over and is run over by a motorbike. The painter up the ladder is startled and drops his can of paint over the recumbent figure in the gutter.

Car with no luck - catsdad

My last company car was reallocated from a previous user and the front bumper had been replaced immediately before coming to me (I saw the record but no details so may have been driver error). In the five months I had it, the front bumper was smashed by a hit and run driver when we were parked in a legitimate space. The rear wing suffered a scuff when parked in a residential street by a driver who did exchange details. On the day I handed it back I noticed a severe crack in the front bumper that had not been there when I washed it a few days previously. Another hit and runner probably in the company car park. So three front bumpers and a scuff in 5 months, mostly in parked situations. I am not superstitious by nature but I wasn't sorry to see it go!
