Citroen C3 Picasso - Driving with no freon gas and AC switched off - Diwali
My AC has no gas so I’ve turned it off. However, I need to use the car for a week before getting it topped up. Is there a risk of damaging the compressor during this time? The mileage will be kept fairly low.

Shouldn't be. If there's no gas the compressor won't kick in anyway. Of course with no gas the o rings will start to dry out so it may leak when it's topped up.

There’s a safety pressure switch in the system that prevents operation of the ac if there is insufficient gas filled .

No problem running it, but you need to know why it has no gas. If you don’t and it’s due to a leak a top up may only last a few weeks.

A proper regas will include a pressure test with UV dye added to identify the location of any leaks - if the leak(s) aren't rectified the operator should refuse to add any refrigerant gas.

Sadly, there are some cowboys around.
