Can I hire a car if the DVLA has my driving licence?
My driving licence is with the DVLA in order to be renewed, however I need to go abroad shortly and wondered if there is any way I can hire a car?

You won't be able to hire a car abroad without your driving licence. If you renewed it online then you can track what stage it's at on the DVLA website, but if you applied in the post, the DVLA is advising there is a six to 10 week delay.
