Hi,

I have what seems to be a strange problem with my VW Golf 2009. When turning on the ignition, the instrument cluster seems completely fine (lcd comes on, warning lights light up etc) up until the point when the engine is started and then it switches off. All other electrics work in the car and the engine ticks over but the instrument cluster is just completely dead. Does anyone know what the cause might be or where I could start looking?

Also, in case it helps, to start the engine it's necessary to depress the clutch. If I turn the key all the way as if to start the car but don't depress the clutch, the LCD displays the "Depress clutch to start" warning" and the cluster stays on, so it does seem the problem is only triggered when the engine starts.
