What can I do if an HGV and trailer parked on my street exceed the weight limit?

A lorry parked in my street is within the weight limit according to local laws. However, it often has a trailer attached to it. The trailer looks like a compressor of the type used to power pneumatic drills. Does the truck with the trailer attached become a single vehicle and therefore with the trailer, exceed the permitted weight limit to park in the street? Note that the trailer cannot move by itself - it can only be towed.

Generally speaking we would not expect local regulations to specify whether the maximum permitted vehicle weight for a given road is the vehicle alone, or the gross vehicle weight which accounts for the vehicle and any attached trailers. We would suggest contacting your local authority if you believe the vehicle is exceeding the permitted regulations.
