Vectra Brake Squeal 4 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Does anyone suffer from undue rear brake squeal on light braking on their previous model Vectra ? Mine's a 2001 2.2 with disks all round. It only happens when the brakes are warm, ie after normal driving for half a mile or so. Washing/hosing seems to make no difference, and it happens both -

'Performance' brake discs 25 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Can anyone with a automotive engineering background give a view on 'performance' brake discs and whether it is worth upgrading for the average motorist. I'm thinking of the discs that have grooves and/or holes in the discs. Call my cynical but I can't see them improving braking performance by very -

I have just had an 80,000 mile service on my 2003 A4 Avant. I have an extended warranty and was told the diagnostic check had revealed a faulty brake vacuum pump and that it needed replacing. This was duly done under warranty. But after a little think, I realised that I do not know anything about -

Last week me and my mate traveled in the very early morning to work, we came to a small empty junction (in Leeds) and when I tried to brake the Micra brakes pedal went all the way to the floor (basically no brakes). We were going only 27 mph and the junction was empty so we were lucky enough -
diesel corsa brakes 17 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Today, only a few days after its first MOT at 4 years/50k miles, my 1.7 Corsa lost its brakes just after I pulled out of a tight parking slot in Belfast. I noticed that the brake pedal stayed firm but that the battery discharge light stayed on, there was no useful residual braking left. I -

Hi, I've got a 2003 Renault Scenic 1.4 (old shape), which is pulling to the left under medium braking. Light braking, it's fine, heavy braking, it's fine, but under medium braking, it seems to dive down a bit at the front, along with wallowing -
Toyota Prius II (2003 - 2008) - 03 1.5 CVT transmission and engine braking 18 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Moving to 'B' from 'D' in a Prius II introduces a slight engine-braking effect. On any significant downhill incline, however, the car will accelerate more than engine braking can prevent and braking is required when for any reason, such as a limit, congtrol of pseed is necessary. I use the example -
Vectra C rear brakes 8 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Evening everyone. My Vectra (2.0T model) is now 13 months old and has 15k on the clock. Now it may just be me but it sounds like the rear brake pads may be getting down to the backing material. When I brake and gently come to a standstill the rear wheels make that noise similar to a dinghy being -
Rover 416 Braking Problem 13 Jul 2003 (Forum)
is a noise coming from what sounds like the rear wheels when braking. Its not a metallic screeching noise, or a grating noise which would be associated with pad wear, but a kind of "shhh" noise, with no vibration at all felt through the pedal. Any ideas what this could be? It was sold with a brand new MOT -
