Vauxhall Astra 2017 - Brake Lights problem - dazzabeezer

Hi

Dash alert stated brake lights out. Checked and left bumper out. Replaced.

Drove 20 mins. No problem. Stopped. Went about business. Start car. Alert back on. Brake light not working again.

Any ideas? I cannot believe its the bulb as it was brand new!

This is a very common problem on the Astra K models . Disconnect the multi pin plug from the bulb holder and inspect the contact pins . Very likely you will find one of the pins has overheated and burnt out . You will need a new bulb holder and repair wiring kit . Vauxhall usually keep these in stock. This fault is actually covered by a 5 year extended warranty, but I doubt you will get a dealer to acknowledge this issue.

I’ve got the same problem, just called Vauxhall and it’s a recall known fault , something to do with the earth wire , car booked in and no charge - happy days
