  • Wheel alignment using a piece of string 22 Nov 2011 (Forum)
When I was a kid, I remember my grandfather doing this. I guess this procedure is fairly crude compared to laser wheel alignment. Does anyone have any simple steps for doing this? Does anybody still do this? Or is this another lost technique?

Can somebody explain to me what the difference is between wheel tracking and wheel alignment, or are they infact the same thing? Additionally does a wheel alignment procedure include realigning the steering wheel with the road wheels, or is that another procedure again? I recently had a pair

I suspect I know the answer to this, but just in case: Took the Mondeo in for an oil change yesterday, Ford Rapid fit. Bloke shimmies over looking shifty afterwards, conversation goes like this. Bloke: You got uneven tyre wear there mate. You want us to check the balance and alignment? Me: Well
  • Fiesta mk4 diesel - Wheel alignment 3 Jan 2011 (Forum)
I am going to get four wheel alignment done as toe in adjustment has not solved the problem of drifting over to the left.  I'm fairly sure everything is good at the front end as it's  recently passed its MOT. What I want to know is as a matter of interest and which puzzles me
  • Wheel Alignment Centres 13 Dec 2001 (Forum)
Sorry to anyone I have asked before but does anyone know of a good 4 wheel alignment specialist in the North East? I have searched the web but can only find a few places down south. From looking on the web I believe that the Hunter machines are the best so if anyone knows someone who has one
  • Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class - Alignment good - but still pulling left 10 Mar 2017 (Forum)
alignment place, who gave it the OK. I have confidence in them - they use Hunter HawkEye and many London dealers take cars to them. I'm pretty sure the car is pulling left though. On the motorway, if taking hands off wheel, it will need correcting after two-three seconds. At slow speeds, I can often
  • Wheel Alignment 3 Aug 2006 (Forum)
I am considering having the wheel Alignment done / Tracking - I need to replace the Drivers side front tyre soon due to wear (not uneven) as lower than the passenger front side..... But as a rule I always change in pairs anyway. Is it best to have it done with the old tyres still in place
  • BMW x5 - Wheel alignment 14 Nov 2021 (Forum)
Hi All, First post so forgive me if my questions come across as silly ?? I went to my local tyre bay today to get 2 new front tyres and a puncture repair on the rear. The front tyres were wearing on the outside edges so I already knew I wanted the alignment checked and adjusted. I was surprised
  • Mercedes-Benz A-Class W176 Sport - Wheel Alignment 2 or 4 Wheel? 14 Sep 2024 (Forum)
My Merc A Class Sport W176 has a slight pull to the left. It seems to be worse after I got my front spring replaced. Do I require a 2 or 4 wheel alignment? Didn't want to pay for a 4 wheel unnecessary if the back wheels cant be adjusted.
  • Mercedes AW169 2011 - Wheel alignment 17 Apr 2022 (Forum)
Like most people I want to maximise mpg.  Need to get 2 new front tyres.  There is no evidence of uneven wear or signs when steering. Is it worthwhile to get 4 wheel alignment ?  Will it improve mpg ?  With a ten year old car could it damage anything involved

  • Wheel alignment mystery 20 Jan 2008 (Forum)
The much-vaunted Micheldever Tyres certainly offer keen prices and a clean, pleasant environment. But what is it they do in the alignment bay that turns a £30 tyre into a £60 bill? A red light flashes, and the (very relaxed) technician walks about a bit and moves the car a bit, and the queue builds
