Astra vibration on moving off 15 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Now that my Astra is run in, at just over 5000 miles, it has developed a brief vibration patch, which occurs when I move off, at about 1000-1200 revs, forward or reverse. The car is a 1.6 petrol, one year old, and is very smooth at all other times. I have heard of clutch judder but I don't think -

Which CC for me 29 Mar 2006 (Forum)
There are just the 2 of us, the kids having flown the nest, so we can now enjoy a car. We want a convertible with a solid folding roof. Don't ask why, we just do! An SLK is beyond our means so don't go there. A 206 seems to have problems with its roof. Rather like the 307CCs and MeganeCCs. Reckon -
mirror clash 29 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Daughter has just arrived home with a damaged wing mirror. "he came round the corner like bat out of hell doing 60 and smashed me mirror off" She has his name, address and phone number but as a grumpy old man I don't know if we're going to get anything out of this. No admission of liability -
Is the extended warranty worth it? 10 Oct 2005 (Forum)
My Mitsubishi Galant 2.0 Classic will be 3 years old in two weeks time. I rang my Mitsubishi dealer today and they quoted me £636 to extend the manufacturers warranty for 12 months (this includes breakdown cover). Do you think this is worth it? I am thinking of selling the car within the next 9 -
Dunlop SP6 - which decade? 5 Jul 2005 (Forum)
Hi I've just noticed that the new tyre I got from KwikFit has a slow puncture in it. Anyway, I've now fitted the spare to take me home 50 miles but I'm not sure how old it is. It's a Dunlop SP6 with a DOT date code of 019, which is the 1st week in the 9th year. Question is, is this 1999 -
Terrano diesel lumpy tickover 21 Mar 2005 (Forum)
On a 1999 Terrano 2.7tdi automatic the tickover is erratic sometimes and at other times displays a "hysteresis" pattern (thrum thrum thrum like an old commercial diesel). however normal running is OK and fuel economy as normal. Car is regularly serviced so filters should not be clogged. Have tried -
astra 1.8 sri 17 Mar 2005 (Forum)
My friends 3yr old sri has developed a poor running problem...coughing,spluttering and flat spots. His local garage have had the injectors sent away for stripdown/clean, removed and inspected the inlet manifold and even tried another e.c.u. They say that it seems to be drawing in excessive air -
Obtaining Insurance in the US 23 Feb 2005 (Forum)
I'm shortly leaving the UK to work in California for a couple of years. Whilst the thought of cheap cars and even cheaper petrol is nice, I'm having nightmares about insurance. Will my fourteen years of incident free motoring in the UK be considered by US insurers or am I going to be in the same -
Mitsubishi FTO - what to look for 7 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Been asked to look at a few Mitsubishi FTO's by a lady who wants one. There's a few for sale within a 40 mile radius (Autotrader!) AFAIK they will all be grey import and 8-9 years old. I don't know a vast amount about these cars - apart from that they suffer the usual Mitsi idle control -

Fiesta MK5 (2000) Sump? 11 Sep 2004 (Forum)
I have recently bought a 2000 Fiesta Finesse Mk5 and looking underneath I notice a little bit of surface corrosion here and there, including on the front surface of the sump pan. Having had to replace a sump pan on my previous car (a '95 Rover 114), I am a little concerned, though this is probably -
Dealers! 6 Aug 2004 (Forum)
I've been having some vibration on my car (4 year old BMW 330d), which started suddenly, along with a noticeable engine noise into the cabin. It was due in for a service anyway, so I asked the dealer to have a look - I suggested it might be an engine or gearbox mount. It came back with a note -
Fiat Punto flat battery 20 Jul 2004 (Forum)
My son's Fiat Punto 1.2SX (1998) battery keeps going flat after a week or so if he doesn't use it, its a new battery as the old one exhibited the same problem and was 'tired' anyway. The alternator is charging OK, the car exhibits no other problems. I've checked for the usual things like interior -
Towing an untaxed, uninsured vehicle. 23 Jun 2004 (Forum)
The police tell me this is illegal and will invalidate the insurance on the tow-car as well. Therefore if I want to tow my old SIII Landy to a garage for repair work, prior to an MOT, can I just get a short term third party insurance cover and nothing else? Obviously I cannot get a tax disk prior -

New City Rover 24 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Well I have been driving the new CityRover for the last few days. My opinion of these, is they should rename them as (deleted) , I have never driven a car as bad as these, the gearbox winds just like the old \'CityMetro\', the suspension bottoms on bad ruts in the road at the front -
Is it best to reuse tyres? 18 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I am having a replacement rear axle fitted to my car to solve uneven tyre wear and knocking noises. The dealer says I am ok to reuse the old tyres which have 2mm more wear on the outside. I am not sure if reusing the tyres would put a strain on the new axle, or if roadholding would be compromised -
High mileage corsa 13 Dec 2003 (Forum)
I\'m thinking of buying a B class corsa (1997 P) it\'s one of the 16 valve models is 7 years old with one owner so I\'m assuming e\'s done a fair bit of motorway driving with it. The mileage is at 110k. Any thought onto how much life the vehicle has left? It\'ll be used as a school run/shopping car
