Why do they bother? 25 May 2007 (Forum)
I reside in Canada and i will be glad if i can purchase the Car from you ..Please remember that i have committed myself to purchase the Car for self used . Thanks awaiting your e-mail today.. Regards What a nutter. I know this is a scam and will end up in me wiring several thousand pounds to pay for some sort of shipping costs and a rubber cheque, but do people seriously fall for this? -
Please confirm my advice is sensible 5 Dec 2018 (Forum)
So my thoughts based on the above are the sellers husband is a liar and that it is probably a scam. I suspect that this one piece of damming evidence would make any sensible judge well aware of such and throw the case out. My last piece of advice to him after a few hours thought was to sell the car ASAP after the dust has settled and preferably not privately. -
How/Where to report a scammer? 24 Dec 2018 (Forum)
Now, 3 days later he has advertised the car for sale, at £7000, calling it "the best example in the UK" and "only 69,000 miles", making NO mention of the serious mechanical issues. Either way you cut it, this guy is a SCAMMER. Either 1) trying to scam me for the supposed "fake mileage", or 2) now KNOWINGLY selling a car that has fake mileage, or 3) now KNOWINGLY selling a car with major faults (£1000+ worth) and not mentioning it in the advert. -
False Claim leading to COunty Court Letter 18 Jan 2025 (Forum)
We were nowhere near the location of this alleged incident. My insurer wanted photos of my vehicle which i sent them. I was very worried that this is a scam or car cloning incident but hoping it's just a mistake by the witness which the dashcam evidence would easily clarify. I kept chasing my insurer for update. They told me they contacted the 3rd party insurer for the dash cam evidence but did not get anything back. -
Volvo S80 - Car Dealers & Fear of the AA! 19 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Now I know that he could well have 'just so happened' to have sold the car in the short period of time after I left, but I can't help thinking I dodged a potential bullet. Has anyone else had this sort of thing happen to them, and is there a scam that some car dealers have going that they don't want a qualified AA technician to find out about? In the end it's cost me £30 to cancel my AA inspection, but in the end I'm happy to lose that rather than potentially £2500 for a dodgy car! -
Dealer Messing Me About 22 Feb 2007 (Forum)
m sick of being misled and messed around, they?ve each contradicted each other, and it feels like I?m being scammed, if it weren?t for the fact the dealership is a large nationwide network or somewhat reputable origins. Does anyone know why they?d deliberately delay? Assuming they aren?t in fact utterly incompetent, which is what I think. -
At least you don't need to worry about.. 12 Sep 2005 (Forum)
You could be purchasing a dried-out casualty of Hurricane Katrina. Whether acting as entrepreneurs or scam artists, wholesale car dealers soon will be scouring the ruins of New Orleans, Mississippi and Alabama for flood-damaged vehicles. They will obtain the cars for pennies, refurbish them and then sell them to buyers, some of whom won't be told of their purchase's waterlogged history. -
More from the Far Side 11 Jan 2003 (Forum)
"The traffic police are always coming up with these new ideas so they can extract ligay (bribes). Buckle Up Week is just another police scam for raising money". (wait till we get speed cameras!) "It's pointless putting seat belts in the car's rear. The accident will be at the front". "If you are a senior citizen you should be exempt from wearing seat belts". -

Car being held illegally and racking up £35 a day 25 Oct 2015 (Forum)
Also the solicitors seem to be working in the interest of the garage and treating him as their client rather than myself. To me it seems like a well-rehea***d highly profitable scam ring with a thin veneer of legitimacy. It would not surprise me if they send cars out crashing them on purpose if the state of their hire car is anything to go by. I refused to pay and asked to see the paperwork that states the body shop can hold my car without payment and the agreed storage fees. -
Any - Dealers, vehicle checks and Fraudulent Conversion 28 Jan 2011 (Forum)
The House of Lords held that the owners owed no duty to the buyers despite the fact that they were both members of HPI and were not estopped. Had any member of the general public been scammed in such a way then S27 of the Hire Purchase Act 1964 (now s22 of schedule 4 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974) would have afforded protection It is almost impossible to develop "good title" on a vehicle in normal circumstances. -
Apollo Saturn V Rocket - The Apollo Moon Missions Were Faked in a Studio 15 Dec 2014 (Forum)
The evidence that the Apollo moon missions were faked in a studio is crushing. The US government can't censor the evidence that's on the internet but...
