term. I have two land Rovers at present, one is ex-farm and 40yrs old the other 20yrs old and ex-off road enthusiast owned. Just doing the wheel bearings and brakes on both. The off-road trialling one is absolutely wrecked in every respect when you look at the drivetrain and brakes, far too much time
  • I went rallying today ... 10 Jul 2004 (Forum)
touched the brake pedal once on the first round, and I managed two full circuits before spinning off halfway round the third. Had a few wobbles along the 30-yard straight (the only straight bit) when I came out of the bend too hard, then later spun off at the same spot as before on the fourth lap, which
  • Pug 306 to 307 - Car upgrade, have I made a mistake? 11 Dec 2011 (Forum)
cheap wire which then corrodes. I managed to run a new wire that from the relay plug to the engine fusebox and since then the car has been a nice drive with just normal maintenance being needed. Then prior to the MOT in september the brake light wouldnt go off completely and again it was a dead wire

It's been examined several times by the garage, and they assure me it's not the suspension, however I just wondered if anyone has any suggestions Secondly there is a hiss coming from the passenger footwell, it occurs when the brakes are applied in particular when the car is being driven

  • Suzuki Swfit at 5000 miles & 7 months 30 Dec 2006 (Forum)
. Engine likes to be revved, VVT cuts in about 3500rpm. Gearbox is excellent in all respects. Brakes and steering also very good. The chassis is quite sporting and the car is fun to drive on our local country lanes and feels 'light and nimble' - good levels of grip (Conti tyres) and good handling. MPG
  • Primera 1.6Si R reg (P11?) - service 22 Mar 2004 (Forum)
I need to do a service on my car - Engine oil, brake clean, corrosion inhibition, engine valet. It has been and currently is off road on a SORN for over two years and trying to get it back into shape before putting it in for MOT. Firstly the engine oil - what is the best oil - long distance
  • Citroen Xantia questions 13 Feb 2003 (Forum)
had it (8 months now), however, it's always been a bit of a dog to start. I usually give it 3-4 heats to get it going nicely, if I give it one or two it'll turn for about 10 seconds before starting over. Is this likely to be glow plugs even though they were replaced? c) My rear brakes squeek
  • MOT frequency 2 Apr 2023 (Forum)
Proposals to make MOTs less frequent assume that drivers have some enough sense to have their vehicle checked if they hear strange noises or notice steering or braking seeming abnormal. In some states of the USA there no compulsory safety inspections are required:  look on YouTube
  • Citreon - C1 10 Mar 2023 (Forum)

  • N/A - Electric scooters 21 Feb 2021 (Forum)
It is reported today that Electric scooters may be allowed on roads with perhaps a max speed of 16mph quoted.  Presumably these silent machines will also find their way onto pavements and cycle paths.   Do the things even have brakes let alone insurance?  This sounds like
  • Tall order 13 Oct 2020 (Forum)
Anyone recommend a weekend bike for a 58 yo  6'4" tall rider? I prefer an upright riding postion, simple mechanics, light weight, good handling, good brakes, nice engine note/feel and had a mis-spent youth on dirt bikes (not limited to these though). 30-60 bhp? Trying not to look
  • Car bike carrier 6 Jul 2020 (Forum)
Took the plunge bought a rear mounted 3 bike cycle rack. Don’t want to scratch the car! However with all 3 bikes loaded the lights and partially covered. Read some things about a board with number plate and brake/indicator lights? How the hell do you go about getting a connection from the car to that?
