is very smooth at around 800-900rpm). A friend (who knows more about these things!) suggested I replace the Idle air control valve which I did. The problems are still there though. I have also reset the ECU which initially made things worse then settled back to the above pattern. Any advice would -
Ford Mondeo IV (2007 - ) - TDCi "transient overboost" -- what triggers it? 8 Jul 2008 (Forum)
is required" or "under hard acceleration". Nothing technical, or more detailed about when it happens, and the circumstances. I'd be very interested to know: --> is it only triggered when the pedal is floored (similar to kickdown in an automatic)? --> or is the ECU clever enough to give overboost -
Vauxhall Vectra B (1995 - 1999) - 1999 X20XEV Should the fuel pump relay be warm to 23 Apr 2008 (Forum)
pump and injector return were every warm to the touch, even after a 10 minute journey. Is this normal? In theory they should be dissipating very little power, just the current through the actuating coils, so i don't see why they should be warm. Is this normal doctor? P.S. Simtec 56.5 ECU -
Fuel consumption figures 16 Mar 2008 (Forum)
miles\" or some other such inter-galactic distance. Yeah, right. Underlying the official figures lists is a fun, intra-industry game in which one firm\'s boffins try to outsmart another\'s by ECU tweaks and other arcane manoeuvres. Intellectually satisfying to them, results in league-table positioning -
Volkswagen Polo III (1994 - 1999) - 1998 1.4 - only running on 2 cylinders 7 Feb 2008 (Forum)
, leads and coil. (it always has a good spark). swapped injectors with 2 and 4. Cleaned out the throttle body twice. Sent the ECU away and had it lab tested, no problems at all they say. Its now out of MOT and won't pass because of the high emissions, its practically undrivable anyway. My independant -

406 8v Turbo - Warning light issues 31 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I have a 406 8v Turbo (1998) which regularly shows the engine warning light during hard acceleration and the turbo cuts out. This is particularly annoying if your overtaking!! I disconnected the battery for some time to reset the ECU - made no difference. I have taken it to Peugeot for engine -
Fiesta TDCI injectors / oil burn 23 Feb 2007 (Forum)
for new injectors at some stage, would like to keep the car, but have a lack of confidence. Any suggestions as to the underlying problem? I think 2002 was the first of the TDCI fiestas so maybe a design fault or ECU issue? January 07 oil light comes on and topped it up with 4L of oil, End Feb 07 -
1997 Alhambra 2.0 auto - opinions? 27 Nov 2006 (Forum)
these have JATCO autoboxes, which seem to enjoy a good reputation. There have been issues with water ingress into the ECU and autoboxes locking in park, though. So, my first question is, what's the backroom's verdict on this as an MPV? Worth a look or steer well clear? My second question -

Alfa 156 JTD 16V Performance Problem 30 Mar 2006 (Forum)
is getting worse. It can take 5 - 10 mins to get the revs up to take off in the mornings. I have cleaned out the air intake as much as possible (it was filthy), changed the oil&filter, air filter and fuel filter (twice). I've been told the Air flow meter is fine and what it needs is and ECU upgrade. Anyone -
Woe is me... 13 Sep 2005 (Forum)
. As it is in for an MOT today (which needs a new front bush, circa 164), they have said that the ECU is probably the cause - a whopping 780 to replace!!!! I am sure that it is not economically viable to keep throwing money at it like this, especially when it will have done 92k miles by this time next year (it's just -
Pug306HDi - ABS warning light 12 Sep 2005 (Forum)
will be rotating at slightly different speeds? I've booked it in to get the ECU read but just thought it could simply be the tyres. To add further complications the car was involved in an accident recently (some one drove into the side of me - front nearside wheel area took the initial impact) - hub/wheel -
Rover 214...something - stopped working 31 Mar 2005 (Forum)
on the motorway and wouldn't start again. He's been told it could be the fuel filter or the ECU - both pretty much writing off the car as it's done very hogh mileages and both components would cost more than the car. I was wondering if the BR had any other suggestions as to what the problem could be. I haven't -
BP Diesel, rough running. Vauxhall Omega 15 May 2004 (Forum)
I\'ve a newish Omage 2.2 DTI that\'s had misfire below 2,000 rmp for the last 10,000 miles. The dealer has tried everything to cure it (new ECU, remove and flush fuel system etc) and I was on the point of getting rid of the car. At the last visit they said avoid BP fuel, which as it happens I -
Unknown modifications and insurance 6 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I have just discovered that my car may have been chipped by a previous owner. I hadn't a clue that it had until now (ironically I was getting it chipped because the car was too heavy on fuel!). It seems to have a non standard label on the chip but I know the ecu was replaced when I first had
