  I bought a new Suzuki Swift (new shape) in September - on my way to the shops today the engine oil change warning light came on. I nipped in to the dealer who said the service guys had gone home for xmas but all that needed doing is to reset the oil change counter as it must have been set

  I have purchased a Oct 04 Honda Accord Diesel with 5,000 miles on the clock. I am keen to get Mobil 1 into the engine as i intend to keep the car a long time, is this to early for an oil change. Also which is the correct Mobil 1 product to use.

  which oil at a loss to what oil to use in a ford maverick 2.4 petrol injection engine.i am about to do an oil and filter change hand book says 10/30 or 10/40 halfords say 5/30 and 10/40 for a terrano which has the same engine as far as i know. does it matter if i use a conventional oil

  . With other VWs we have had, I have used various engine flushing oils such as Forte or STP to clean the engine before I changed the oil, but only for the 10 minutes before the oil was changed. I had thought that a good idea would be to put a flushing oil in the engine before I brought it down to Huddersfield

  Quick straw poll please - given fixed budget and a 13-year old (1.6 Nissan petrol) engine that has clocked well in excess of 100K would you think it better to make frequent changes of cheap oil or less-frequent changes of good oil?

  I always keep my cars a long time, and I change my 11 year old 180K Cavalier's oil every 5 -6000 miles. My 11 month old C type 200 K's on board generated service intervals however, are apparently happy to take the car to 10K miles or more between the service intervals that I am obliged to follow

He has a 1986 BMW K100 motorbike (dry clutch like a car) which he purchased second hand 3 years ago, to this day he has not changed the oil, the seller told him that it was fully synthetic and good for 10k miles.   At the last oil change (approximately 3 months ago) I put Magnatec oil in and also gave my 1.9TD Xsara a good shot of Redex diesel treatment. Along with making it run quieter, these two combined took me from getting approximately 400 miles from a tank to over 500... quite a substantial improvement

  Hi, Wife has just reported that a message has just come up on the dash saying 'oil maintenance required'. The oil level is fine and it was changed in 2013. Its not done a great deal of mileage since it was changed. Do i need to change it or do i take it for a run to get the oil hot

  Just had oil changed at a local place, and noticed on the bill that the oil was 10W-40 rather than the 5W-40 that the car normally has. Car is a 2001 Mk3 Mondeo (Duratec engine, 90k miles). Will this cause any problems or is it ok. I change the oil every 6000 miles. Thanks, Yoby.

  Booked 309 in for full service Premier Plus or whatevr which involves fuel filetr and gearbox oil Its a 1993 model which has a sealed gearbox So when they suggest gearbox oil change are they after more money; should I refuse the gearbox oil change? Or will they actually do it? Excuse the typing.

  How long do you think it should take to change the oil and filter and renew the spark plugs on a 2000 Micra. I have just had it done at a reputable dealer and it took 20 minutes, this seems really quick to me. What do you think?
