Hi all,
Going to change the oil in the MX5 tomorrow- assuming semi-synthetic will be the stuff. Any opinions? It's a 1997 mk 1 1.8iS, done 104k.
Thanks in advance,
Alex.

We have a 1998 1,6 MX5 in the family and use Halfords part synthetic 10-40. Its been on this for 2 1/2 years with no problems.
If you are going to do the oil filter as well be advised that it's a bit of a fiddle to access under the manifold. I couldn't get a strap wrench around it. Put some rag under the filter to catch the oil which runs down the block.

Either fully or semi synthetic will be ok I use Halfords 5w-30 in my 1990 1.6 with no problems.
Loads of good info at www.mx5ocforum.co.uk
