Looking for a stylish electric SUV that can travel a long way between charges? The Peugeot e-3008 could be the car for you. However, it's expensive and we think families will miss the practicality of the old model.

With stylish looks, a classy interior and an impressive electric range, the new Peugeot e-3008 offers a tempting alternative to the Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV, the impressive Nissan Ariya and the popular Tesla Model Y. But is it a worthy replacement for the hugely successful Peugeot 3008? Read our 2024 Peugeot e-3008 review to find out.

Remember the podgy Peugeot 3008 people carrier that was launched in 2009? It morphed into a stylish-but-versatile SUV in 2017. Even today, the second-generation model remains one of the best family SUVs you can buy, making it a tough act to follow.

That's why the latest Peugeot 3008 is taking a slightly different approach. It's being launched as an electric SUV, badged the Peugeot e-3008, with hybrid versions coming later in the year.

Design has certainly been a priority for the team developing the Peugeot e-3008 - its glitzy looks help it stand out against generic electric SUVs like the Volkswagen ID.5.

But the most impressive thing about the Peugeot e-3008 is its cabin. With fabric-covered finishes and a high-tech dashboard, it feels just as premium as a BMW iX1 or Audi Q4 e-tron.

You'll pay the price in practicality, though. It feels pretty cramped in the rear, while the boot is very shallow - even if its official carrying capacity is bigger than the Nissan Qashqai.

If you're looking for an electric car that can cover long distances, the Peugeot e-3008 performs very well indeed. It's initially being launched with a 73kWh battery pack which provides an official range of up to 327 miles. You might struggle to see that in winter, though, especially as the Peugeot e-3008 doesn't come with a heat pump as standard in the UK.

There are more Peugeot e-3008 models on their way, including Dual Motor and Long Range variants with a range of up to 435 miles. That means the Peugeot e-3008 will be one of the longest-range electric cars you can buy.

It's not without its faults, but if you're looking for a stylish electric SUV with a superb (if not particularly spacious) interior, the Peugeot e-3008 should be on your shortlist. One of the biggest obstacles we think the e-3008 faces is its high list price - it starts at nearly £46,000, while the longer range models are likely to be pushing £60,000...

The Peugeot e-3008 is a heavyweight even by electric SUV standards. That means it's not particularly agile, while the standard single-motor model isn't exactly sprightly, either.

Peugeot e-3008 2024: Handling and ride quality

The first thing you'll notice when driving the Peugeot e-3008 is how unsettled it feels around town. The ride is jiggly - a result of having to deal with a huge 2.1-tonne kerb weight combined with the 20-inch alloy wheels fitted to our GT spec test car. The Allure, with its 19-inch wheels, might be more comfortable but we'd be surprised if a bit more tyre profile makes such a big difference.

It's a bit smoother at speed, although we've only sampled the Peugeot e-3008 on French tarmac so we'll hold the final judgement until we've tested it here in the UK.

It doesn't feel particularly agile, either. The small speeding wheel gives it a feeling of dartiness (which is actually quite irritating on the motorway), but it lumbers around bends with noticeable lean. The Peugeot e-3008 might look sporty, but a BMW iX1 is much better to drive.

Pleasingly, the Peugeot e-3008 gives you more options for regenerative braking than the brand's other electric cars. You can use paddles behind the steering wheel to increase the amount the Peugeot e-3008 slows down using the electric motor, although it isn't quite severe enough for one-pedal driving.

Peugeot e-3008 2024: Engines

The Peugeot e-3008 is initially being launched with a single 210PS electric motor powered by a 73kWh battery pack. Performance is steady: it'll accelerate to 62mph in 8.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 105mph.

If you're looking for an electric car that can make rapid progress, you'll have to wait for one of the more powerful Peugeot e-3008 models. A 230PS Long Range model is expected, as well as a 320PS Dual Motor version with all-wheel drive.

Peugeot e-3008 2024: Safety

There's an extensive list of driver-assistance tech fitted to the Peugeot e-3008. This includes adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, so the Peugeot e-3008 can essentially take over accelerating and braking in stop/start traffic.

There's also a lane departure warning feature, which nudges the steering if you inadvertently stray from your lane, and speed limit detection to help you keep below the speed limit.

Automatic emergency braking can apply the brakes if it detects an impending collision, while the driver attention alert pops up if it detects that you're distracted.

There's an extensive amount of airbags to protect you and your family in a crash, while the Post Collision Safety Brake will apply the brakes to prevent further collisions. The outer two rear seats are fitted with Isofix child seat mounting points.

Peugeot e-3008 2024: Practicality

Peugeot quotes a 520-litre capacity for the Peugeot e-3008's boot. Fact fans will know that's exactly the same as the old Peugeot 3008... but there's a catch. The official boot capacity is measured up to the parcel shelf - so, if you want to carry bulky loads or load it right up to the roofline, you'll find it significantly less spacious than the old model.

You get an adjustable boot floor (reducing the boot lip and providing a handy space for storing your charging cables), while the rear seats split 40/20/40 for those occasions when you need more boot space. They don't fold entirely flat, however.

Rear legroom is pretty good, helped by a longer wheelbase, although the panoramic sunroof fitted to our Peugeot e-3008 GT test car does hinder headroom. A Tesla Model Y feels much more spacious for rear-seat passengers.

There's plenty of space up front, at least, with a considerable amount of storage. Look elsewhere if you want a big glovebox, though.

Peugeot e-3008 2024: Quality and finish

There are some plush finishes to the Peugeot e-3008's cabin, while some fabric coverings add to the upmarket feel - although we'd be interested to see how smart they look after a few years of wear.

Pleasingly, you don't have to go for the most expensive Peugeot e-3008 for an upmarket interior. The entry-level Allure comes with most of the most appealing features of the range-topping GT, apart from some stainless steel door sill trims, a frameless rear-view mirror and some aluminium printing on the dashboard.

Peugeot e-3008 2024: Infotainment

Finding the right balance between a tech-heavy cabin and user-friendliness is a challenge that the Peugeot e-3008 tackles pretty successfully.

All Peugeot e-3008 models come with a 21-inch curved display floating above the dashboard. This houses the main touchscreen infotainment system - providing things like your navigation, smartphone mirroring (in the form of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) and DAB radio.

It's clear and easy to use, with fast responses and sharp graphics. Navigating this is aided by a second touchscreen display featuring customisable 'i-Toggle' shortcut buttons. These work almost as well as physical buttons, while you can also use Peugeot's voice-activated assistant to perform simple tasks. It's not the slickest system we've used, though.

Above the steering wheel, you'll find a customisable digital instrument cluster. This is well positioned so it's easy to glance at while driving and not obscured by the Peugeot e-3008's small steering wheel.

Value for Money Rating
The Peugeot e-3008 is expensive to buy new, although we suspect there might be some good deals on the table sooner rather than later. It has a very impressive electric range that should make it cheap to run, although a heat pump isn't standard in the UK.

Peugeot e-3008 2024: Prices

From launch, the Peugeot e-3008 is priced from £45,850 in Allure trim, while the Peugeot e-3008 GT is £49,650.

That's a significant wedge of cash compared to a hybrid Peugeot 3008 (which starts from less than £35,000), but it's broadly in line with competitors like the Tesla Model Y, Volkswagen ID.5 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. It's worth noting, though, that the new Renault Scenic E-Tech is available from £37,495.

At the time of writing (March 2024) the new Peugeot e-3008 is available on a PCP finance deal for £479 a month. That's at 2.5% APR with a customer deposit of £5,994.

Peugeot e-3008 2024: Running Costs

With its 73kWh battery pack, the 210PS Peugeot e-3008 has an official range of up to 326 miles. Home charging - using a typical 7.4kW charger - takes around eight hours (from 20% to 100%). The cost of charging a Peugeot e-3008 will vary but, plugged in at home, expect to pay around £20 for a full charge (depending on your home electricity tariff).

If you're looking for an electric car that can travel further between charges, there will soon be a Peugeot e-3008 Long Range model. This has a huge 98kWh battery pack providing an impressive 435-mile range.

Although the Peugeot e-3008 has an impressive electric range on paper, it's a shame that it doesn't come with an energy-saving heat pump as standard in the UK. That means you'll struggle to get close to the official figure during colder, winter months.

Standard equipment on the Peugeot e-3008 Allure includes a 21-inch digital display (incorporating both the digital instrument panel and central touchscreen media system), a wireless phone charger, dual-zone climate control, Peugeot's e-Remote Control with vehicle charging and cabin pre-conditioning, a reversing camera, LED headlights and 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

The Peugeot e-3008 GT builds on this with adaptive cruise control, front parking sensors, a handsfree electric tailgate and a heated steering wheel. Peugeot e-3008 revealed

Peugeot has revealed the new all-electric e-3008, featuring an aerodynamic fastback SUV design, a new electric powertrain offering up to 435 miles of range and Peugeot’s latest Panoramic i-Cockpit.

The new e-3008 will replace the best-selling Peugeot 3008. By 2025, Peugeot will offer a complete battery electric line-up, and by 2030, 100% of the brand’s sales in Europe will be electric.

The Peugeot e-3008 will be the first model to use Stellantis’ brand-new STLA Medium electric powertrain, designed to offer best-in-class performance to meet customers’ needs: range (up to 435 miles), recharge time (20-80% in 30 minutes from a 160kW charger), driving pleasure, performance, efficiency, and connected services and functions (Trip Planner, Smart charging, and online updates). The STLA Medium comprises a permanent magnet synchronous motor operating in tandem with an electric gearbox to deliver more power, efficiency and torque, powered by a 400V lithium-ion battery.

For AC charging, two types of on-board chargers are available, with an 11kW three-phase charger as standard and a 22kW three-phase charger as an option. For DC rapid recharging, the Mode 4 socket on the new e-3008 is capable of charging speeds up to 160kW, enabling the e-3008's standard range battery to be recharged from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes, and less than 30 minutes for the Long-Range version.

The new e-3008 also features a V2L (Vehicle to Load) function, giving customers the option of powering an electrical device via the car’s high-voltage battery. The system can supply up to 3kW and 16A. The V1G or Smart Charging function can also adjust the time and power at which the battery of the new Peugeot e-3008 is charged to optimise charging costs.

The fastback SUV styling of the new e-3008 makes it immediately recognisable. With its dynamic and aerodynamic shape (Cx 0.28), the new e-3008 combines elegance, efficiency and spaciousness. The e-3008 remains one of the most compact cars in the 100% electric SUV category (length: 4.54m, width: 1.89m, height: 1.64m), while still providing 520 litres of boot space - identical to that of the previous 3008.

With a fully redesigned front end, the ultra-compact LED headlamps and grille are complemented by a sweeping aerodynamic profile which highlights the modernity and unique personality of the e-3008.

Continuing the innovative work that started on the 408, Peugeot has equipped the new e-3008 with wheels that contribute to both modern styling and aerodynamic performance. The 19” or 20” wheels, with their technical and geometric design, feature the new Peugeot emblem at their centre.

At the rear of the car, Peugeot has modernised the traditional slope of the fastback with a "floating" spoiler, inspired by the Quartz Concept. This innovative feature enhances the curve of the new e-3008's bodywork while optimising aerodynamics and complementing the distinctive three-claw rear light signature.

The new e-3008 is available in a range of six colours. Thanks to innovative dichromatic pigments, the Obsession Blue colour changes from blue to green depending on the light and the shape of the bodywork. The other colours available are Ingaro Blue, Okenite White, Nera Black, Cumulus Grey and Titane Grey.

Inside, the new Peugeot Panoramic i-Cockpit® features a floating, curved 21” HD panoramic screen that combines the head-up display with the central touchscreen. Positioned for optimum ergonomics, the panoramic screen is slightly curved towards the driver while remaining perfectly accessible to the passenger. Next to the panoramic screen, the instrument cluster combines all the information relating to driving (speed, power, driving aids, energy flow) above the new compact steering wheel. In the centre of the dashboard, the touch-screen is used to manage the heating/air conditioning, navigation and media/connectivity systems.

The central part of the e-3008’s dashboard also houses the i-Toggles, fully customisable touch-sensitive buttons that can be programmed to provide quick access to 10 of the user's favourite functions, such as calling a specific contact, starting navigation to a frequently used destination or setting the air-conditioning to a favourite temperature.

Meanwhile, the cabin's aesthetics and cutting-edge technology are enhanced by the ambient LED lighting, which can be customised in eight different colours. A new compact and ergonomic steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls heightens the feeling of modernity, and Peugeot’s Air Quality System (AQS) ensures that the cabin is a refreshing and calming place to be.

The new Peugeot Panoramic i-Cockpit® also introduces two paddles behind the steering wheel which allow the driver to choose from three levels of regenerative braking.

Low (-0.6m/s²), for a feeling close to that of conventional brakes.
Medium (-1.2m/s²), for increased deceleration.
High (-1.8m/s²), for maximum deceleration, and therefore regeneration.

The medium and high levels automatically switch on the rear brake lights.

For an instinctive driving experience, the new STLA Medium platform incorporates new front and rear axles designed to deliver dynamic road-holding. The architecture of the platform itself contributes to this dynamism by lowering the vehicle's centre of gravity, thanks to the single-layer battery being ideally positioned as low as possible between the wheels.

The e-3008 comes with a suite of driver aids to ensure a smooth driving experience, including adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, lane keep assist and speed limit sign detection. The e-3008 also features the latest Peugeot active safety technologies, such as automatic emergency braking with collision warning, lane departure warning, Driver Attention Alert, long-range blind spot monitoring and Advanced Traction Control.

The Peugeot e-3008 will be available with two trim levels, Allure and GT, with three all-electric powertrains:

Peugeot e-3008 opens for orders, priced from £45,850

Peugeot has announced that its new e-3008 is now open for orders with prices starting from £45,850.

The new e-3008 will be launched with a single 210PS electric motor and a useable 73kWh, 400V lithium-ion battery, capable of a range of up to 326 miles.

The e-3008 is available in two trim levels: Allure and GT.

Allure models start at £45,850 and include a 21-inch HD Panoramic Curved Display, 3D Connected Navigation, configurable i-Toggles, a smartphone wireless charger, keyless go and a reversing camera.

e-3008 GT models start at £49,650 and include pixel LED Headlights, a handsfree electric tailgate, adaptive cruise control, a heated steering wheel and front seats, eight-colour ambient lighting and an Alcantara interior.

Peugeot e-3008 230 Long Range can travel 435 miles on a charge

Peugeot has announced a new e-3008 Long Range model, which joins the existing 210PS model. The Long Range features an official WLTP range of 435 miles thanks to a larger 96.9kWh battery pack than the 73kWh pack used in the 210PS e-3008, the latter giving 326 miles of range.

Despite the larger battery capacity, the new pack is only 15mm thicker than that used on existing e-3008 models, meaning cabin and boot space are unaffected.

As well as a larger battery, the e-3008 230 Long Range uses a new 230PS powertrain, and features improved charging times. The model can accept up to 160kW power on DC rapid chargers, and takes 27 minutes to go from 20-80%, or 93 miles in 10 minutes.
