Volkswagen Tiguan (2008 - 2016)
2.0 TSI 200 SPORT
RELATIVELY QUICK PERFORMANCE SUV NO PROBLEMS WITH DPF
My first review of a Tiguan was of the 2008 TDI 140 SE model shown on these pages and I rated this car very well, but after the lease expired and aware of the problems associated with the DPF when using a diesel over short journeys I sought an early Mercedes ML as a replacement. After deciding to sell the Mercedes and not wishing to suffer the effects of a DPF failure with a newer diesel SUV it took me several months to find a petrol fueled Tiguan TSI as a replacement. Surprisingly I found what I was looking for quite local and on finding out its spec. I immediately offered to buy it. Cream leather sports interior, 200 TSI engine giving Golf GTI performance, original black external finish, phone-linked radio set up, steering wheel controls and with an overall condition pretty good for its 70,000 plus full 6 year VW service history and all at the right price! Verdict very good choice still robust and good styling very quick off the mark and with good cruising performance in 5th & 6th gears. OK fuel consumption is not as good as a TDI diesel version but I did not buy it for that reason. I have covered several thousand miles now and apart from annoyances with modern water based paint being susceptible to minor chipping I am impressed with the car. Its modern equivalent would be the Tiguan 210 R model which has similar features to my "Sport" version.
