Every journey is a delight

This is my second Scirocco. Previous one was a new 59 plate car. At change time, it was not hard to decide what to buy next.
As I drive about 14,000 miles p.a., a diesel made sense. The engine in this car is a punchy refined unit. Mid range acceleration is relentless in any gear and the national speed limit is all too easily reached. I have taken it to France a number of times and it will cruise at a steady 140kph all day at 2200 rpm.
Fuel consumption has averaged 51 mpg for 30,000 miles.
The leather seats are supportive and comfortable and the electric heating warms the nether regions on a cold day.!!
The ergonomics are perfect .
On the road , the handling is neutral and flat with little body roll. Brakes are powerful, although servo assistance can be a bit sharp. Despite having 3 damper settings, I have used Comfort mode most of the time
The DSG box has never given a problem and suits the engine character fine. The 'sport' mode seems pointless as it will then do 50 in 2nd. !! It is fitted with paddles, but they have rarely been used
Tyre life at the front is heavyish at circa 18,000 miles, but given the amount of urge, this seems reasonable.
The car is still dealer serviced as I have a service plan.
All in all, a great car.
Downsides?
Well, the boots on the small side, visibility out of the rear window is poor and the big doors can be a pain in tight car park spaces.
It is obviously not a family car, but for couples with the occasional rear passenger, it's fine.
