Volkswagen Scirocco (2008 - 2017)
1.4 TSi DSG 160bhp
Fantastic car to drive, goes very well, shame about the reliability.
I had the car new, all was well until about June last year when the infamous 1.4 mis-fire started.
I left it a while and monitored the situation, as you do, just to see if it was my driving style.
But the Engine management light would flash at me now and again so I took it to the Dealer.
Mr Dealer said he'd never seen this before although as I later found out it's all over the Forums.
So after new Coils, new cylinder head and ultimately a new Engine and nearly four weeks of driving a diesel golf I got it back.
The new Engine seems fine, Fuel consumption has gone silly and the front sub-frame knocks when I pull off. I took it back to the dealer about the knock but it came back.
It,s in the dealer tomorrow for a service and to see if they can fix the knocking and the passenger window that won't drop or the boot that doesn't always open.
I love the car though, I'll have a 2.0 TSi next.
Update Feb 2012
The new engine is loosening up nicely, it goes better than the first engine.
Fuel consumption seems about the same.
Update Aug 13, The DSG gearbox is playing up. New BMW on order.
Update Nov 13. It's gone, the new BMW has arrived, I was glad to get rid of it.
I will never have a Volkswagen again.
