Overrated and Unreliable
I have had a succession of VW Passat Estates (this is my 5th) and I can honestly see that this will be my last. With each iteration they have steadily got less reliable. This one has been into the garage 4 times now to try and address a fault with the satnav, and it's still not fixed. VW customer support is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard, and leave everything to the dealer, who gets no support from VW...
It isn't just the tech issues, which seem to work fine in other manufacturers, but the general build quality just isn't there any more. The doors keep dropping, and have to be re-seated, plastic trim falls off the back with regularity, the body has more creaks, groans and squeaks than our 8 year old Mitsubishi Outlander.
