Volkswagen Passat Estate (2015 - 2024)
2.0 TDI 150ps GT 5dr Estate
Roomy front and back, great on a run decent overall but not special
The GT version is well spec'd and an excellent motorway car. Around town its also nice to drive and doesn't feel big when driving it (I often found my estate bit blocking junctions when first bought as I forgot it was actually isn't a golf sized, but it feels like that when driving it). Road noise can be poor on uneven roads but wind noise on mine is almost none existent under 75mph [that said the 1st showroom car I test drove sounded like the window was open a touch even when it wasn't]. On a steady run you can easily get will into 60's mpg with the A/C on and your toe down, take it easy and you can creep to just over 70mpg. Interior space is great especially in the back. I'm over 6'2 and my family are similar and we fit with plenty of legroom and headroom. Much better space in back than than a E Class saloon, but not as much space as an S90. The engine can be noisy when cold but 150BHP is plenty powerful for everyday driving and it drives and sticks to the road like a family hatchback. Not sporty, but nippy is how I would put it with very grippy feel even in the wet. Best of all it comes with adaptive cruise as standard which I love and should be on every car I would buy one without it now.
