Too many rattles, hopeless driver controls, but good to drive
Bought it new hoping for a well-built VW in line with the VW reputation. There are lots of trim rattles from the front doors, dashboard and rear of the car – it seems to be cheaply made. The VW sales staff at the dealer were unable to set up the user interface with my details; it took me ages to do it. There are not many buttons to control anything, you have to use the central screen and it’s not at all easy (the motoring press all say the same). These two criticisms detract a lot from the enjoyment of my new car. In other respects, it’s good - it handles and steers very well and is stable at speed, in fact it easy to go too fast. It is powerful and does 50 m.p.g. The brakes are OK, not outstanding, and the standard sound system could be better.
