Volkswagen Golf (2004 - 2008)
1.9 Match TDI DPF 5dr Auto Hatchback
fair car, did expect to be more reliable
Bought the vw Golf V 90CP Trendline with 89000km on the clock. Used it every day and now I have 138000km on the clock. At around 125000Km on the clock the car just stopped all by itself in the middle of the traffic on my way to work. Called the platform truck and shortly after my mechanic changed the diesel pump. I don;t use low quality fuel nor do I drive with my tank almost empty so this wasn;t expected. At 137000km while driving on the motorway the engine started to make a beating sound, like it wanted to get out through the bonnet. It sounded like a 3 cylinder diesel engine reved hard at cold temperatures. Noticed less pulling power and the consumption started to go up. I've called again the truck platform 700KM away and send it back to my mechanic which changed the camshaft. THis was expensive but the mechanic said he noticed this problem before on 1.9 TDI Golf\Passats, may be a design flow. I did expect the car to be more reliable after driving only 50000km. Big disappointment from the praised 1.9 TDI engine.
