Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer (2008 - 2017)
SRi NAV 2l CDTi 160
Delighted!
Bought this car from the local main dealer, at just under a year old. Lots of driving up and down the country with work including regular 5 hour drives up to Edinburgh and overall I've been delighted with the car. Would have preferred the leather option but my priority was having the embedded nav which I've been delighted with, no issue with only 4 characters being inserted, can insert the full post code. Comfortable to drive, great seats and driving position, great long distance motorway and A road cruiser. Have to say the stereo's OK but could have benefited from an external amp but all in all a well put together car that looks very good.
Only issue I've had has been the electric hand brake. Why manufacturers fit these, well? But since the honeymoon period and a couple of returns for inspection it's been OK, the issue has been flagged with Vauxhall when they couldn't replicate the problem and I just leave it in gear now as well when parked. One of those things. Strange though number of times I've driven other vehicles forget about releasing the hand brake... The only other issue of warning of costs are those 245 R18 45 Continental Sports are expensive to replace, best to shop around. I replaced the original set 4 months after I got the car as they were pretty worn, worrying as the car had only done 9k when I purchased and only another 3K when I replaced them, but considered it wise knowing it'd be spending good time on the motorway to know the history of the tyres. Like for like replacement was expensive but 12k miles later the tyres still have a good 5/6mm on them, a Michelin tyre pressure gauge has helped and do weekly checks on them.
Servicing costs have been very good, bought a £17.50 p/m service deal from the dealer at purchase and covered me for last years service and same price for this years which'll require it's first MOT. Only other thing I added was a £20 engine flush we can argue about the worth of that? But as the car wasn't mine from new wanted peace of mind. Won't have that done for another couple of years now. Also had an interim oil and filter change 6 months after purchase £70 I think that was and it'll be due another maybe this month, though oil is still showing 50% and will likely have an inspection of the brake pads as well, think again they're about 50% life showing.
I'd recommend without hesitation, good practical comfortable car that keeps up with the competition on fast roads and critically day to day very easy to live with and economy overall fairly good for a large car. Dealer has been good, no quibbles with them and recently moved 30 miles away and think I'd return it to them for service as happy. Finally I add a much better turning circle than my former Volvo V70 and with much better running costs! Primary reason for leaving Volvo...
