Toyota RAV4 (2006 - 2013)
XT5 auto 4x4
Lovely car, thirsty and needs a reversing camera
Probably the best car I have ever owned, it does everything I ask of it. Bought because I like the Toyota reliability and I need a 4x4 to negotiate a lengthy sometimes very muddy track. It has performed faultlessly and so far has been very reliable. It is thirsty but not a modern engine, an automatic and permanent 4 wheel drive so economy is not top of the list of pluses. The automatic is a 4 speed torque converter box and works very well. It is comfortable, the driver's seat is electrically adjustable and both front seats are heated, either on or off but work well. There is good space for 4 adults and the centre rear seat has a proper diagonal seat belt but it is really a car for only 4 adults. The boot is a good size, the rear seats move forwards or fold flat to increase space if there are only 2 occupants. The factory fitted Satnav is not easy to use, the manual is nearly as thick as that for the actual car and the App on my mobile is easy to use and "realtime". The leather fitted to my car is only part as I found out when a side split and the repairer told me about it, apparently not many leather upholstered cars are any better! It is not the easiest car to reverse which would be solved with a reversing camera but it was not an option for my model. Sadly my experience of the main dealer, one of the Jemca frachise, has put me off permanently from ever buying another car from a Toyota main agent. That said I would recommend the car although it has been superseded several times now but still represents a lot of car for the money in my opinion.
