Toyota RAV4 (2006 - 2013)
XT-R-AWD 2.2 Diesel, Manual.
This car has reached the expectations that I had for it.
The car has reached and even exceeded my expectations up to now.It has covered 19000 miles from new and is now just over 18 months old.
It has had one service, with another due in May/June, carried out at the main dealer it was purchased from. No items have gone wrong since new, as I would expect at this mileage.
Tyre wear is reasonable with plenty of tread still available front and especially rear.
I have previously owned two similar SUV type cars one a Nissan and the other a Honda. Both of these were good cars, particularly the Honda CRV, and I admit to liking the driving position and general feeling of ruggedness of these types of car.
I find the Toyota a very pleasant car to drive, it is not a boy racer but it accelerates well and it is a good cruiser. The engine is a bit noisy compared to more modern designs such as the very latest Rav 4 and the new Honda CRV, but it does not bother me to any extent.
I find the driver's seating position to be very good for me and there have been no complaints from any passengers carried in the other seats. There is ample leg room and seat adjustment front and back for passengers.
I find the gearbox to be smooth in operation and ratios are fine throughout.
The reversing camera is a very useful item and I would not want to be without one now.
My one complaint regarding the cars interior is that the boot is not as big as some rivals and the side opening door is not as good as an uplifting one.
The fact that no spare wheel was provided is not good either and is always something of a worry. The gadget they supply for puncture repair looks like a practical joke although not very funny on a wet winters night on the hard shoulder!
As an owner I find the car easy to keep clean inside and out although, being taller than most cars, the roof is a bit difficult to reach.
My wife also enjoys driving the Toyota and likes the high up driving position.
I do not wish to sound like a creep but I must say that the service provided, up to date , by the Toyota agent has been good with no grounds for complaint.
I tow a small caravan and find the Rav to be a great workhorse in this regard.
I hope you have enjoyed reading my brief revue and that it has been a useful exercise.
