Toyota C-HR (2016 - 2023)
1.8 Hybrid Excel CVT 5dr
Great car, but could do better
I swapped my 9 year-old Lexus CT after 7 years of ownership to get into a car which was higher and easier to ingress and egress. After looking at many including Hyundai, Kia, Honda and Toyota, I decided on the C-HR.
I bought the car second-hand when it was 2 years-old and I’ve owned for just over 1 year now. It looked a very nice car in Excel spec and in Metal stream. The hybrid set up was very similar to my CT, so knew what to expect of the power train set up. Interior was a nice place to be, although seats were not as comfy as my Lexus. I’ve also added a space saver wheel kit to my C-HR - it only comes with Repair kit. For £180, it’s a nice addition.
Heating system is a little slow to heat up cabin and have experienced condensation on inside of front screen. Toyota state there is no problem with the car and to use A/C more often! DAB is also very hit and miss.
It’s not a perfect car by any means, however, it will be reliable and is an head turner.
Servicing costs are a bit high for an average small crossover, but I use an independent garage, so costs are lower.
MPG is around 57 and can rise to 65 in warmer weather. I’m now looking at the 2.0L version of the car. I only hope that some of the niggles/issues have been addressed on this new model year.
