big, comfy, quiet, refined, competent handling, surprisingly economical and reassuringly ugly.

Had this car for 5 months, 12,000 miles, no problems. It is a big car, wide and long. The rear legroom is fantastic and makes for a very long boot space when the seats are folded which is one of the reasons I bought it. I was torn between this and a Skoda Superb Estate 4wd but the 5 month lead time on the Skoda was too long. It's not sporty but it drives really well for a big, raised car and you can hustle it along if you want. Performance from the diesel is plenty good enough for me with bags of torque; you can join a motorway in 3rd accelerating briskly and put it in 6th and it picks up fine; Clarkson doesn't know what he's talking about! The AWD traction in the wet is excellent and it feels stable and well planted. It is very quiet when moving, not much tyre or wind noise and very comfortable seats and cabin. Long journeys are a breeze. I had a Legacy Tourer before and that was a bit sharper car to drive but quite a bit noisier and much less room. The specification is very good with dual zone climate, heated leather seats, sunroof, rear camera and folding mirrors (last two are very useful!) and an excellent sound system. The sat nav is good at some things like recognising European post codes but TomTom is better in other regards. Fuel consumption averages at 42 mpg measured brim to brim - 46 on the trip computer.
