S 1.4 TSI 125 5dr Hatchback

Serene - Very refined, silent at tickover - slight tyre noise at speed - very little wind noise

OK bought this at a really really good price as large small cc petrol cars not popular as the economy wont be great and performance will be compromised

The reality :-

Economy much better than expected , worst tankful 44mpg best 53mpg

Performance - even fully laden engine tugs it along surprisingly well
In 6th gear 60mph is about 2000rpm , clearly a tall overdrive but still pulls well at A road/ motorway speeds. Third gear great for overtaking pulls from 1500 to 6000rpm - I then block change to sixth

Practicality - great but twin door mechanism intrudes very slightly but boot space still vast and huge amount of legroom front and rear

Refinement - This is the best bit - If you turn the fan off it's silent at tick-over and really really quiet on the move and very comfortable
