SEAT Leon (2013 - 2020)
FR 1.4 TSI 140 5dr Hatchback
Why buy a diesel whan this petrol car is so good?
After owning and enjoying 2 of the previous shape Leons, both in 2.0 140bhp diesel form, I did my homework before buying the current shape car. It seemed a better bet to buy the 1.4 turbo petrol rather than fork out an extra three grand for another diesel version, whilst the projected costs over 2-3 years appeared to favour the petrol car. I'm pleased to say that I was right. The 1.4TSi 140 engine is great and the handling is better than the diesels of old as there's not such a huge weighty lump sitting over the front wheels. Less torque? Hardly noticeable. Worse MPG? I usually get around 50/53mpg on a run and have achieved 62mpg without having to drive like the vicar's aunt or use the 'economy' button. The car is lively, handles brilliantly and is a pleasure to drive. Absolutely no mechanical problems. Front tyres replaced at 24k mls.
