Range Rover (2013 - 2022)
4.4 SDV8 Autobiography Auto 5dr
Brilliant
This is the 2nd RR I've owned and frankly there is nothing to compare. It drives like a magic carpet and despite having the aerodynamics of a breezeblock, pulls to seriously illegal speeds without a qualm, is silent, supremely comfortable and on a good run, will give 36-38 to the gallon - obviously not when tanking it - It is my workhorse and goes anywhere, everywhere on road, off road and pulls a two-up horse box without blinking. During last snow/ice spell, it pulled a big fully laden BMW up a sheet ice covered hill without a slip, skid or murmur and I've just tugged a huge camper off the moors, stuck axle deep, again without so much as a grunt. This thing is a beast...!!! Yes, it's costly to maintain but given it does everything I need during my working day, I don't really mind. There are, nonetheless, a couple of niggles. Cabin storage is abysmal, the auto open-close boot has no kill switch so when sitting on the back shelf admiring the views, the dogs, wandering around underneath, set the damn thing off and you end up being folded into the rear....amusing the first time, but not so the 2nd... And and and.... should you be tempted to get one, you really do need to check out provenance - as pointed out, they are costly to maintain and badly cared for examples will empty your wallet/bank account and sense of humour bucket really really fast - so be warned.....
