Porsche Boxster (2005 - 2012)
BOXSTER S (3.2 litre)
My dream car that more than lived up to my expectations!!
The car was 4 years old when I bought it and had only 15000 miles on the clock - too good to miss I thought (and I was right). The car averages 27mpg in general motoring (dropping to 24mpg in the colder weather) but on long trips I have managed 37mpg (admittedly driving like a priest on these journeys). It is a 6 speed manual and the gearbox is typically robust German engineering - not slick but solid and reassuring. Reliability is impeccable as is the handling and build quality. Do not believe the pin heads who say that a BOXSTER is a poor man's 911. This car is no second prize.
Boot space (front and back) is a pleasant surprise. If you can get a model with a glass rear heated screen (from around 2003 on) that would be preferable to the rear plastic panel.
An amazing car that a good mechanic can service and maintain for you, with many parts being available from motor factor suppliers. Tyre choice is limited because of the "special" fitting requirement, and tyre prices are not cheap (particularly the rears).
