Porsche Boxster (2005 - 2012)
Boxster 2.9 PDK
Nice car to drive, very responsive.
Had this car for 18 months and covered about 6000 miles. Very pleased with the performance and handling. For a 2 seater convertible it is quite practical with 2 reasonable sized boots. It feels very solid and well built.
Visibility when reversing is not good with the hood up, so option of parking sensors well worth it. Cost of options is high, opted for the built in Sat Nav and phone package. Sat Nav will not accept 7 digit UK postcodes, but easy to link up to bluetooth phone and call quality is good.
After about 10 months of ownership and 4k miles got a red " transmission emergency run" light and lost all drive. Once ignition was switched off and on car was OK. Took to supplying Porsche dealership, they did lots of diagnostics on the stored fault codes and talked to Porsche Germany. They kept the car for a week and changed the PDK gearbox, all under warranty of course, but a little concerning that a major part should fail so soon. Porsche only give 2 year warranty.
Driving position suits all drivers as i am 6ft tall and wife is 4ft10" and we both find the driving position good.
PDK gearbox is smooth and rewarding to drive in manual mode. Although when starting from cold a little unresponsive when moving from stationary.
