Good Allrounder
Drives very well and very flexible engine in this version (177) that pulls from about 1000 rpm, much better than the later version (had one of those too!). It is also reasonably good off road but the low profile tyres hamper it a little, performs better on the GX2 higher profile tyres in the mud and handles well on the road too. Good miles per gallon too and can go over 40mpg if driven more gently. The drop down tail gate is also handy (later ones also don't have this). Manufacturer loses a mark for not keeping up with performance when compared to other 2.0 litre diesels, the Outlander is getting a little slow in comparison.
