Excellent car

I decided to return to Mitsubishi after having a vauxhall for a few years. Prior to this I had a Pajero and it proved to be incredibly reliable. I made the mistake of trading it in for a Freelander which was a total disapointment.
The Outlander was over what I wouls have wanted to spend but after looking at many reviews I decided to go ahead and get it. I have not been disappointed. The driving position gives an excellent view and the seats are very comfortable. I was told to get the 2.2 but went for the 2 due to price. Although it has been said to be underpowered, I have found it to be an excellent choice and suitable for the day to day uses it will have. I commute 60 miles a day with my work and have found it to return and average of 39 mpg so its not to expensive to run. I have found it to be comfortable on long distances (better than the Pajero) and it cruises comfortably at 75 and still returns a good mpg.
The stereo is good quality and the level of equipment overall is good. I find the folding mirrors excellent when meeting other traffic on the single track roads and in parking in tight spaces.

The roads around this neck of the woods are not good and I find it holds the roads well and rides well over the incredibly poor roads. I was also impressed with its road holding on ice in Dec 2010. The selectable 4x4 is easier to use than the old Pajero lever.
If I had any comments it would be around parking it as I should have found one with rear camera or get parking sensors fitted as it can be a bit awkward in tight spots.
Ok the rear pop up seats may be a bit small but they are useable for children and easy to stow away. To be honest I did not buy it for its pop up seats! I can carry 4 adults and 2 retrievers so it works for me.
All in all I would recommend this car to anyone considering a 4x4.
After another 3 years I have changed my mind. Its far to plastic and very easy to damage and costly to repair. I think my next 4x4 will be something more rugged and less easy to damage
