MG HS (2020 on)
MG HS Exclusive Auto (DCT)
Wow! Luxury at an affordable price.
This is a major step up from the MG GS (my previous car). Gone are the hard, scratchy plastic surfaces & in are soft touch ones. The HS Exclusive (don’t go for a lower spec model) is loaded with all the extras you can imagine - from radar cruise to blind spot detection. One criticism - no front parking sensors; don’t understand why not as it would cost pennies to fit.
It is a pleasure to drive with a smooth auto 7-speed transmission (though don’t be too heavy footed as you pull away). The ride is comfortable & the usual potholes are easily ironed out by the suspension. It has good acceleration but don’t forget, you’ve not bought a Ferrari - it’s a large SUV.
There’s oceans of room inside, even for rear seat passengers. The wrap-around front seats provide masses of support. The boot is cavernous with clever under floor storage. The doors (& auto tailgate) close with the reassuring clunk of a far more expensive brand.
The car looks great too with it’s bull-nose, grill & modern light configuration.
If you stuck another badge on this car you’d pay an extra £10k & think you’d got a great car at great price.
My advice, don’t be fixated by badges & brands, test drive the MG HS - you’ll be hooked. If all this doesn’t sell the car, think about the 7 year warranty. If the big brands are so good, why don’t they follow suit?
