Mercedes-Benz SLK (2011 - 2016)
SLK 200
Not a good buy!
Buying a 9 year old convertible roadster car for my wife was a little risky. I expected high servicing costs although it had full Merc history. However buying from a main dealer- but not Mercedes- John Banks Cambridge we thought would be fine?
The car came from them with their full service checks. Driving home there was a disturbing noise from the rear end. During the following week and not much joy from JB, I bookedin to Mercedes Benz Tamworth. They found two rear springs broken? These ( according to MERCEDES were obvious andshould have been noticed! There was also an issue with the mileage discrepancy between MOT and the clock mileage? EventuallyJB agreed to pay for the springs and labour. Somewhat later the two front anti roll bars needed replacing after approx. 1500 miles from the original JB checks. Now we have a water leak in front passenger area- a replacement ROOF IS REQUIIRED as the only solution! Cost £2600 Even Worse no roofs available in UK or Germany and cannot be obtained for months? So what is my view? To date £500 for service.two springs £500 , two anti roll bars £160, £2600 for a new roof.I would have thought such repairs would have been spotted at sales but there would be a reason I suspect?
A premium car with full service history and only 41500 miles, it seems a high maintenance in approx 2/ 3000 miles
