Mercedes-Benz E-Class (2016 - 2023)
E350e 2.0 AMG Line Premium Plus Auto 4dr Saloon
Presigious car - Battery range not great
I have used this car for four weeks having purchased it as ECO friendly. The battery on full charge delivers not more than 14 miles range. Thereafter, one can use the charge mode. Charge station will be required to regularly charge the battery. The charging time is approximately 2 hours
Driving along in hybrid mode is good and the performance is fine as well. The stop-go process is very smooth in traffic and no doubt saves fuel in this mode. However, once the battery power runs out , either driving on petrol or charge mode consumes fuel and returns between 25-35 mpg, depending on the road conditions. Overall achievement is around 45 mpg which is much lower than claimed by Mercedes.
As far as comfort and other features are concerned, the car is superb and very comfortable as one would expect a mid-range Merc to be. The premium plus pack is excellent. Time will tell as for the maintenance costs or any other issues since the vehicle is all digital and driving and performance data may be available to Mercedes should need be.
Road tax should be £140 pa but sadly the government has levied an extra £300 per year for 5 years on luxury cars. (disappointing despite the low emission level).
